    In 1996, the Safety Technology Authority launched a research programme to promote fire safety in cooperation with VTT Manufacturing Technology and the Forensic Laboratory of the National Bureau of Investigation. The aim of the research project was to test the fire retardancy of TV casing materials and to study the fire retardancy of polymers in electrical equipment in the light of existing literature on the subject.
